22 Kids and counting.....

We had just got back to the car when the email came in.

Subject: Channel 5 documentary and filming

Holy cow, this can’t wait. A film crew want to come and stay with us and do some filming for a channel 5 documentary about Britan’s biggest Family, oh, and they’re wanting to bring 12 of their 22 kids!!!

Fantastic we thought, we had space and would love to welcome these guys down here and show them the best of what we have to offer.

Over the next few weeks, a flurry of emails and phone calls went back and forth as we discussed the itinerary with the production company. We told us what was going on for the family and how Dad (Noel) and mum (Sue) were having some issues with one of their teenage kids, Josh. We worked out that some real adventure and a night in a hammock would be great for some father son bonding and Mum and the others could have some fun times on some of the other activities we offer.

So it was set, they were all coming. The team was nervously excited. A chance to be on telly still gets people excited, even in this age of social media….

The crew turned up and put microphones on people, then the family turned up shortly afterwards. We got everyone fed and shown around and then off they went to their tents for the night.

The following day saw Noel and Josh head off into the gorge with Blue. I’m not going to spoil it too much by telling you what you happens next…. You’ll have to check it out on Channel 5.

Needless to say that Noel and Sue were are fantastic couple, such lovely people and every single one of their kids that came along was just an absolute delight to be around, they were polite, charming and so very very funny. They had the whole places in fits of laughter. We can’t wait to see them again and have invited them all back to visit at some point in the future.

22 Kids and counting season 3 is currently showing on Channel 5, Sunday evenings at 9pm GMT. and is available on My5, their on demand player.
